So I officially signed up today for my next 5k. I will be running in the 5th annual smiles change lives 5k in Blue Point, NY. Smiles Change Lives is a nonprofit organization that has been providing life changing, essential orthodontic treatment for children from low income families for over a decade. Dr. Frank R. Egan, local orthodontist and runner, launched the Smiles Change Lives program on Long Island in 2008. I am happy to support such a great cause.
This race is called a Turkey Trot because it is actually the morning of Thanksgiving on November 22nd. I am excited to do something active that morning since I know I will be enjoying extra calories that day.
I was joking with fitnhealthymama that I was going to get a t-shirt made that says “Running – to be able to eat more stuffing” LOL! That would be funny. I don’t think I could actually wear something like that but it would be funny.
I really like and need a race to look forward to and train for. It keeps me motivated. My goal is just to beat my last time which we are just going to call an even 49 minutes because I won’t know my exact time but I knew it was a few seconds after my Mom who finished in 48 and change. Happy to say my Mom is doing this race as well as my PIC. Looking forward to it!
